Oprah won’t let John Mayer appear on her show?

Apparently not… but I’m glad she won’t. Here’s what the good people over at PopEater.com have to say about the whole thing:

Whenever a celebrity does something stupid, they often end up begging for forgiveness on Oprah’s sofa — but not John Mayer. Apparently, he’s going to have to find someone else’s shoulder to cry on, because the talk show queen is refusing to have the attention-seeking singer on her set. Oh, Johnny-boy, you know you’ve done bad when Oprah won’t let you boost her show’s ratings!

“Oprah is the smartest person on TV and will not let John use her or her show to ask for forgiveness,” a TV insider tells me. “If John really wants to apologize for his racist and sexist comments, he should find somewhere else. The only way Oprah, who is a dear friend of Jennifer Aniston, would ever book him is if John were interested in having a much deeper conversation about race, women and fame.”

For those of you that don’t know, Aniston is one of Mayer’s ex-girls. So that’s got a lot of people thinking that Oprah is treating Mayer differently because of her relationship with Aniston. Honestly, though, regardless of the reasoning behind Oprah’s refusal to have Mayer on her show, I support her decision wholeheartedly. After the way he presented himself in his interview with Playboy, I really don’t think he would have anything valuable to say on her show. He already apologized through Twitter, but the last thing we need right now is another dialogue featuring Mayer, whether it’s with Playboy, Oprah, or whoever else.
