Yeah, you read that right. 1 TRILLION dollars. And no, she’s not being sued by Dr. Evil, even though that’s what it sounds like.
Damon Lloyd Goffe, an author from the Bronx, is suing Oprah Winfrey for $1.2 trillion. He claims that she released a book of poetry, entitled “Pieces of My Soul,” that stole material from his own book of poetry, entitled “A Tome of Poetry.” Although the website that sold Oprah’s book is apparently no longer available, Goffe estimates that she still managed to sell 650 million copies of the book, at $20 per copy. And, according to his own calculations, that adds up to $1.2 trillion.
*scratches head* Wait… 650 million x $20… according to my calculator, that’s $13 billion, not $1.2 trillion.
Either way, let’s think about this. The Catcher in the Rye has only sold 65 million copies in its 58-year history. So this book of poetry sold 10 times as much as The Catcher in the Rye? I knew Oprah was popular, but… wow. I’m amazed… at just how stupid this guy really is.
Get a life, Damon. And a new calculator while you’re at it.
