Virginia is for shoppers…

In case you hadn’t already heard, this weekend (August 7-9) is the “summer sales tax holiday” in 10 states. Including Virginia.

So whatever you buy this weekend, if it falls in the categories of school supplies or clothing, you don’t have to pay an extra sales tax on it.

According to the Virginia Department of Taxation:

During this three-day period, purchases of qualifying school supplies selling for $20 or less per item, and purchases of qualifying clothing and footwear selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax.

Not bad.

No JordansI mean, it won’t help me pay for these fly Jordan AJF 4’s that just came out (retail price is $145, unfortunately), but it’ll still be a great day to go shopping anyway.

(P.S. If you’re not in Virginia, the other nine states that are celebrating this holiday this weekend are: Alabama, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee. Connecticut will be celebrating August 16-22, and Texas will be celebrating August 21-23. If you’re still not in one of these states… well, guess it’s time for a road trip.)
