"he is simply the greatest entertainer who ever lived"

When Berry Gordy said those words today at Michael Jackson’s memorial, he was absolutely correct.

“King of Pop” doesn’t even do the man justice.

I’m not gonna lie… I’ve been annoyed, like many other people, at the endless media coverage surrounding his death. It seems like someone forgot the whole meaning of the phrase “Rest In Peace.” But today’s star-studded memorial was absolutely necessary. It truly showed the world the kind of man that Michael was. One who never stopped loving. One who was willing to do whatever it took to be the best. One who was extremely passionate about not only his work, but about the world as a whole.

Sure, he had his flaws, and made some questionable decisions. But he was human. That’s to be expected. Just like Rev. Al Sharpton said (and this is probably the only time I’ll ever appreciate something that came out of his mouth), “there wasn’t nothing strange about [Michael]. It was strange what [he] had to deal with, but he dealt with it.”

What he doesn’t need to deal with now is everybody needing to know every detail surrounding his life AND death. What role the doctors played at the end. Who’s going to get custody of the kids. WHO CARES.

Let the man rest in peace, and appreciate his life for the impact that he had on the world. Appreciate his life for being an example of what it truly means to love unconditionally.

There will only be one Michael Jackson, but the world could certainly use many more like him.
